Lunch stop near Cambridge / Peterborough

I’m looking for somewhere to stop for lunch that isn’t a service station / roadside cafe on the drive between east London and Center Parcs Sherwood Forest. Cambridge / Peterborough are about halfway.

Does anyone know any nice farm shops / cute villages with nice pubs etc that are also dog friendly and would be a nice pitstop on the journey?

Thanks!

Ben’s Yard in Ely near Cambridge has just opened - it’s a new shopping destination with a restaurant and cafe. The restaurant (which serves modern British dishes) looks particualry nice. You could then have a look at the shops - there’s an independent butcher, florist, and other small boutiques!

Stamford is a great stop! 10/15 mins outside Peterborough but lovely village and everything you could need/look for. Also The Black Horse in Elton is lovely if you wanted to stop and let the kids run around as the gardens outside are huge and lovely.

Fika at The Woolfox, located just off the A1 north of Stamford.

Not sure what your plans are for the return journey… Here are some ideas:

Woolsthorpe by Colsterworth - Sir Isaac Newtons’ House and The White Lion gastropub

Woolsthorpe by Belvoir - The Chequers Inn, shopping spree at The Engine Yard by Belvoir Castle

Stilton - The Bell Inn or The Talbot Inn
