A place too good not to share, Middleton Lodge.
The most perfect countryside escape nestled in expansive grounds near Richmond, North Yorkshire. An hours drive away from York meant it was the obvious choice for a staycation after visiting a few times for lunch/dinner, which soon became very high on my wish list to return for an overnight stay.
Across the entire estate you are faced with a feeling of calm, peace and rest. This does not include the newly built forest spa - totally gorgeous. I would caveat; booking a treatment at the spa does not give you access rights to the pool or the other facilities - you must book a ‘spa’ package for access (we learnt the hard way).
There is the option of indoor/outdoor dining, with menu’s creatively crafted using seasonal ingredients grown on the estate. I had the carrot risotto, which was bursting in flavour and colour, as you could imagine the taste was unreal.
Honestly, cannot recommend this place enough for a long weekend, spa break, celebratory event - I promise, you will leave planning your next return.
