Hi all! I have my legal wedding in London in a few weekends time, and while it will be more low key as not the main event, the Sunday after we get married we currently have zero planned. We thought it would be a nice idea to do something just the two of us while we’ll be on a high - doesn’t have to be anything elaborate, favourite neighbourhood brunch spots, areas nice to explore, favourite things to while away a sunny (manifesting) Sunday. Any recommendations welcome! xxx
I’d do a lovely brunch somewhere a bit special (maybe Duck & Waffle for the views?) then mooch around east London - Spitalfields, shops on Redchurch Street, Columbia Road and along the canal to Victoria Park.
I LOVE all these parts of London!
I love the wandering around the Natural History Museum or V&A. There are lots of lovely parks nearby to explore, plus cosy little pubs for a Sunday roast or celebratory glass of wine!
I don’t think you can beat Notting Hill on a sunny day for just wandering around - there’s so many little independent shops to mooch around plus endless cafe’s just to sit and watch the world go by - you could even just pop into a local bakery/food shop and then walk up to Holland Park for a picnic in the sunshine x
Greenwich is so lovely on a sunny day. the park is beautiful and lots of little pubs everywhere. Richmond park also beautiful and could have a cute lunch at Petersham Nurseries.
Love all of these areas - another absolute favourite of mine is to do either Kew Gardens (they have the loveliest gift shop too with lots of books, plants etc) or Richmond Park to find some deer followed by a lovely lunch or tea and cake at petersham nurseries!
Maybe Wimbledon Village for brunch (The Ivy?) and a mooch, followed by a walk on Wimbledon Common and a late lunch at The Fox & Grapes.
Other suggestion would be the canal walk from Little Venice (start anywhere near Warwick Avenue) to Camden Lock. Takes you through Regents Park and so many lovely places to stop for F&B on the way - finishing up in a pub in Camden for drinks, or head to Patagonia for probably the best Argentinian grilled steaks & wines in London, served in a low key but super-friendly setting - bliss!
Thanks so much for all the recommendations! Going to put them to my other half, but we’ll be set for many more date days beyond next week
this is so sweet! if you want to go extra special why not go to a fancy hotel brunch - perhaps at the Connaught, Berkley or Mandarin Oriental? Then since you’re around the area you could you on a lovely walk around hyde or regents park in the sun then could then pop somewhere for drinks. Depending which way you walk you could go to Hide or Cecconis x
