Hiya! I am solo-travelling from January 2024 for around 6 months. Planning to start in Australia and then move on to South East Asia but nothing planned yet.
I was wondering whether anyone has any tips for solo travel?
Recommendations for places to go / where to stay also welcome!
How exciting! I did a really similar trip a few years ago and loved Thailand. Koh Tao, Koh Lanta (super chilled but lovely food) and Chaing Mai and Pai were my faves. Plus Koh Sok National Park is THE most beautiul place - you can stay in floating bunglaows on the lake.
I also loved Malaysia - KL (the coolest city with great shopping) and Langkawi. You can actually get a bus from Thailand to KL which is good if you don’t want to fly - some of them even drop you from hotel to hotel, door to door!
Plus, if you can, make time for NZ after Australia. It can be expensive but the hostels are generally really nice and the scenery is stunning. Greyhound still have buses around the north and south islands (the south being the more beautiful of the two).
