Hi there - I am a Master’s student attending a ball for my program in September. I was wondering if you could kindly provide dress suggestions that are within a reasonable student budget. There is no theme but it is ‘black tie’, however a bit lenient as well (thinking midis with some leg showing…). Let me know what you think! Thank you

Usually with these events you end up with a dress that you only wear once so I would definitely suggest renting. This way you could wear a higher end piece but within a student budget!

I’m terribly biased when it comes to a slip dress and absolutely love them!
They look amazing in a midi length, are timeless and very popular at the moment so the choice is quite endless from high-end to High Street you will definitely find one that suits your budget.
They are flattering on all body shapes and easily dressed up or down so definitely worth the investment!

I always think of Asos and specifically Asos Design for affordable occasion wear. They have such a great selection - they have every style and colour covered. This chic black midi would be a great option.

agreed, renting is a no brainer! theres so much choice and it means you can be a little more risk-taking with colour or print because you don’t have to think about how you can make use of out styling it again and again!
but if you’re going for something classic that you could wear else where then it’s worth investing in something. I’d check out mango and massimo dutti for this x
