Hi Sheerluxe,
My boyfriend’s taking me away to Budapest for my birthday (14th Feb). I wondered if anyone had any good bar, restaurant, or activity recommendations to share!
It would be great to know! xx

Oh so many! Budapest is such a great place to explore and it is all pretty walkable/ easily-accessible by public transport. The tram, from what I remember, was really useful.
Here is a little list of things you must tick off:
The fishermans bastion is an obvious tourist option, but simply must be done. The views are insane, I have attached a piccy.
Go to the great market hall. It is full of vendors and lovely little eateries. Try the goulash- it is incredible!
The Elizabeth lookout tower provides great 360 ° views. You can get a ski lift up to the top which is really fun in itself but then you have to hike a little so wear comfortable shoes. Great photo opportunity!
The ruin bars are a must! Great for cocktails and a night out dancing. Szimpla Kert was my favourite - really quirky and eclectic.
There is some amazing food on offer but my personal favourite was Mandragora. The atmosphere was lovely and cosy and the food was delicious without being too pretentious. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g274887-d712503-Reviews-Mandragora-Budapest_Central_Hungary.html
Besides that, obviously the baths have to be experienced although it will be very cold when you go! You can make a day of it and book in for a couples massage to really treat yourselves.
Enjoy! It is a lovely city with a really cool vibe.
I agree on going to Szimpla Kert! Ensure to get there early-evening though as it gets busy quickly
Brody House is so warm and cosy if you’re after a hotel – it’s also very affordable. You can also just visit the bar if you’re not staying
I agree to all the above, I just went for a girly weekend and had the best time.
For food we loved Mazel Tov: MAZEL TOV
But make sure to book or be prepared for a big queue!
Also, a bit of a rogue one but we absolutely loved this bottomless fizz river cruise of £15pp, it was really chilled, and the views along the river were stunning. We went at 6pm, and I recommend going when it’s dark, it was beautiful to see Budapest all lit up.
We booked it here:
Thanks everyone! These are Fab.
Additionally to all these lovely recommendations I would like to add: Try and walk as much as you can, we found the most beautiful architecture and little roads just by walking to all the places, it’s honestly stunning. x
