Do you have any style rules, processes you follow when it comes to dressing for work? What is your process in the morning or do you plan ahead?
I do have a few non-negotiables when it comes to dressing for work.
The first is actually about giving myself time to get ready, mainly for hair and make-up. I am an early riser and hate being rushed to get ready. So I try to wake up before the kids (not always possible) and spend time by myself getting ready for the day. To me, it is an act of placing value on myself. So much time as a mum is given to others, that I make sure to spend a decent amount of time getting myself together. I like to feel put together as it makes me feel more confident.
Secondly, a few days ahead of time I look at my calendar and what meetings and or events I have across the week. Then I think about how I want to show up, how I want to feel and how I want to be perceived. I often feel at my best in a dress so for big important meetings I head to my dress rail and pick out make makes me feel the most confident.
I must say that I’ve been known to change my outfit at the last min, which drives my husband crazy. Sometimes I can be a little indecisive even though I have planned my outfits out a few days in advance.
When I don’t know what to wear, which happens often I opt for a high-quality white t-shirt, a tailored blazer, a pair of barrel-leg jeans from Frame and a statement shoe of some kind.
