Original art/paintings

Hi! I love the look of original art and paintings (due to the visible brushstrokes / texture) but the prices always seem extortionate so would love any recommendations of artists / painters to look at (under £200 preferably!). Thank you! x

Partnership editions is a good place to start: https://partnershipeditions.com/

There are lots of artists on etsy with a range of oil paintings, worth having a look on there!

I’ve picked up some lovely pieces in flea markets and charity shops. Not a quick process, but they’re great for finding one-offs – at a reasonable price too!

I found artist Abi Burden on TikTok and she is much below £200 for original paintings - you can see some of her commissions here but you can speak to her to discuss what you’re after as she can do much more than what’s on her site - they’re really fun and affordable!

I have bought artwork from both Lea Hughes Leanne Hughes Artist
and Caroline Ashwood
https://carolineashwood.co.uk/
both are fantastic artists with a range of prices dependent on size. I’d also try Etsy shops. Good luck

Under £200 for original artwork is tough…for that price point it’s easier to look at prints (ideally in limited edition).

Museums sell good quality editions, Artspace have a great selection of prints and Luma have some as well.

In terms of original artwork, Saatchi Art has a massive range of artworks.

Otherwise best bet for contemporary artwork is degree shows - every art school has a show at the end of the year where artwork can be purchased. Affordable art fair is an option (other major art fairs are way too expensive).

For more classic paintings then antique shops or flea markets are the best bet as mentioned above. Small, local auction houses also have decent art (impressionist or realist in style) for better price points.
