Abu Dhabi recommendations

I am off to Abu Dhabi to visit a friend who lives there. Neither of us drive but I really want to explore! She lives on Yas Island. I would appreciate any food, culture, shopping recommendations (I am there for 5 nights). I also want to know whether its worth visiting the Louvre as I am a MASSIVE art fan! Thank you

Hi issyd200
I would definitely suggest visiting the Louvre, I was there October 2019 the area was still being developed. A lot has changed it is mesmerising and has several points were water meets the architecture, when the sun goes down. It really has to be experienced.
Another area which is not far from the Louvre, Al Sa’Diyat Cultural - Cultural District, relatively new phase 2022 (shops, restaurants, beach within walking distance) again great experience.
Unfortunately the free magazines outlining events, in and around Abu Dhabi don’t seem to be available - transport is easy to use a bit like the oyster system, or the usual taxi for late evenings out.
Have fun!

Heya! I went last month and had a really lovely time. Definitely visit the Louvre.
I would 10000% recommend going to Emirates Palace it is amazing and eat at this restaurant it is amazing BBQ style meal on the beach. Such a gorgeous setting.

The Mandarin Oriental looks incredible!

The outdoor BBQ experience on the terrace looks lovely – and there’s a great-looking spa!

The Sheikh Zayed grand mosque is absolutely incredible, so worth a trip - the scale and beauty has to be seen to be believed x

Hi all, I am in Abu Dhabi next week (12th-19th Oct). It is for my sister’s birthday and it’s a big one, 50! We are staying at the St Regis and have some idea of things to do and our concierge has provided restaurants. But I would love something a bit different, special for her. Last minute I know but I already took her away this year to Italy as my present but as the day comes closer, I want to be sure to mark it with something memorable. Any ideas? Drinks, restaurant, experience? Maybe Sonara Desert? All help appreciated x
