I would go for a woven leather style, like this one on Massimo Dutti. I also have my eye on this one, I think it would work well for both occasions.

I bought a straw bag from Mint Velvet last year with white shoulder length straps - I’ve been able to use this for weekends/casual summer days that are not holiday style. x
