My daughter is starting Fashion Marketing at University in September. How did you get into the industry and what is the best advice you would give her starting out.

I had quite a traditional entry into the industry. I did an art foundation degree to start with, then studied Fashion Communication & Promotion at Central Saint Martins - within that I did a year interning in New York at various magazines and designers which I absolutely loved. My best piece of advice would be to get as much experience as you can in every area of the business as it gives you great insight into the industry and what areas you want to work in.
When you don’t have years of experience on your CV l think it’s really important to have a platform that really showcases your skills and interests - whether its instagram, tiktok , substack - it’s great to have an avenue that highlights your passion & creativity.
