Cotswolds Weekend

Where is the best place to go for a weekend in the Cotswolds without a car?

Earlier in the year I went to Estelle Manor for a couple of days - no car! Really great for a cosy autumn weekend. You just have to organise a taxi from the train station and once you’re there you don’t really need to leave as they’ve got good facilities and and activities on-site.

I really recommend Charlbury. You can get a direct train there from Paddington, and the town is super small and cute. You also have the excellent Bull at Charlbury pub there - could easily spend a whole afternoon there in the pub garden and inside by the fire.

Are you looking for places to stay too?

I stayed in Stow-On-The-Wold which was really cute, lots of shops/ lovely pubs / cafes.

Moreton in the Marsh is nice plus you can take the train from Paddington. Lots of lovely cafés etc. Chipping Campden is a personal favourite - you’d need to bus/taxi from the above station but would be worth it if you want a nice mix of cosy spots and independent shops x

Estelle Manor for 5 days was incredible… we were picked up and transported around in the Estelle Defenders. A total treat, so much to do on site and food was excellent. Not to be missed- The Lamb in Burford, The Bull in Charlbury and The Farmers Dog in Burford. Estelle took us to all!

We’ve booked at The Swan Hotel in Bibury for early December and we are planning to visit the famous Arlington Row and the trout farm. There are also lots of wonderful places to visit slightly further afield such as the Corinium Museum, Chedworth Roman Villa and Cotswold Wildlife Park.

Soho Farmhouse makes for a great base if you don’t have a car and as a guest a driver can help with local drop offs. Retreating after a morning browsing Chipping Camden’s vintage shops and afternoon tea in Stow on The Wold is a lovely bookend to the bookend the Cotswolds experience!
