Couples first weekend away

Hello, my boyfriend received a £150 air b&b voucher for his 30th bday and he wants to go off with me. It’ll be our first few nights away together and I want it to be really special with lots to do, were both very outdoorsy and active but also LOVE good food. Any good ideas of locations/activities/properties for 2 nights in April would be massively appreciated. Massive thanks Ellie

I just went to stay in a digital detox cabin (this particular one isn’t on airbnb) https://unplugged.rest/ but I am sure there are a lot of similar cabin getaways and it was the best weekend, particularly if you are an outdoorsy couple. Perhaps look for something similar in north wales or up in the lakes - you could go for long walks, runs and explore the area. An added bonus would be one with a hot tub too!

If your priorities are the outdoors and food, I would definitely head to Cumbria. Amazing walking in the Lake District and the most Michelin-star restaurants in the UK outside London: https://guide.michelin.com/gb/en/restaurants?q=cumbria

Skye is also superb for both.

I agree, the Lake District is perfect - loads of beautiful walks (one of my favourites Catbells Walking Route (keswick.org)

If you’re brave you could also go for a dip! Buttermere lake is amazing for a swim, the water is so clear. For other activities you can also go paddle boarding and kayaking - I like Ullswater for this Ullswater Paddleboarding - SUP Lessons, Tours & Hire in Cumbria
If you get stuck with the weather, the pencil museum is genuinely so good - I thought it was going to be terrible, but it is actually very interesting :joy: Derwent Pencil Museum | Derwent UK (derwentart.com)

I’ve never been but have heard great things about L’Enclume | Dine (lenclume.co.uk) - they get booked up really quickly though!

We took the kids to Derwent Pencil Museum when they were wee; agree it was better than expected!

Also agree that Catbells is one of the best walks, alongside Helvellyn, and Crummock Water and Buttermere. (My husband and I wrote a book on Lake District walks many moons ago.)

Agreed, Skye is amazing!

Another Place in the Lake District is gorgeous, really lovely hotel, excellent walks, outdoor swims (including night swims) - perfection. https://another.place/

Would recommend this too!

Skye could be the perfect place. I wrote a guide on it last year if you need ideas:
