Any recomendations for what to do for a day out in Edinburgh? Taking a friend for her 21st birthday and want to make it really memorable - any ideas of cute restaurants, cafes, shops?
I’d definitely go for lunch or dinner at Noto and oysters and fizz at The White Horse on the Royal Mile. The vintage shops in the Grassmarket are really cool, too.

I’ve lived there for 6+ years. The Devils Advocate is a great spot for food/drinks in Old town and there is a fun whisky tour (inc a ride!) off the royal mile as well (diff to Johnny Walker tour). Thistle Street in New Town has cute shops + restaurants and Stockbridge is a great neighbourhood for both as well (plus the botanic gardens). If you are up for a short hike then Calton Hill has beautiful views of the city as well as an art gallery/resto on top. The walk along Dean Village/Water of Leith is also lovely. Victoria Street & Grassmarket are a bit touristy but still worth seeing - Cold Town House there has a rooftop bar looking directly onto the castle.
I love Devil’s Advocate!
