Hi all! I helping host a birthday dinner party for my parents joint 60th. With my 3 other sisters we are organising the whole thing and are planning on doing the catering ourselves, but are also happy to buy easy shortcuts/ pre-food etc. Just starting to plan and looking for recommendations for recipes for 25ish people for a sit down dinner? or where might be good for pre-made food for large groups? or any other ideas people might have?
I would cook three full roast chickens – can spatchcock them as a bit more foolproof for cooking. Full chickens are cheaper and easier to cook. Could also compliment these with a full roasted fish – easiest if cooked in parchment paper with lemons, herbs, tomatos.
Then add a few veg-- maybe potatoes and carrots (can be cooked in the same pan as the chickens).
I’d say something you can pre cook and reheat in the oven so you’re more relaxed on the day. A load of pies with some green beans or a big salad or a big stew.
Alternatively, Cook is always helpful!
How about tacos? You can do options for veggies and meat-eaters and all the fillings and dips can be made in advance, and everyone helps themselves. You can do fun cocktails too with that theme.
Would defo make something like a tiramisu for dessert - minimal prep & you can multiply the recipe easily!
