Honeymoon in Jan ideas!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a honeymoon end of Dec/beginning of Jan?

I think South Africa would be amazing that time of year! Split between safari and Zanzibar!

It will be summer time in Australia.

I went to St Lucia for my honeymoon at the beginning of January a few years ago and it was wonderful. We stayed at Ladera which was very “honeymoon” - adults only, outdoor room with plunge pool overlooking the pitons etc. Hotel Chocolat across the road is also great. Or Sugar Beach which we visited and are actually going back to stay at next year (now we have a baby so no adults only resorts!).

I also second South Africa though - that is such a fabulous place to go in (our) winter with really varied activities. We did a two week trip split across four locations - Cape Town, winelands (recommend staying at Babylonstoren), place called Grootbos near Hermanus for nature/whale watching (if the right time of year) and safari (we went to Madikwe which is smaller/less busy than Kruger).

Enjoy! x

We went to Sri-Lanka & then Maldives would highly recommend that combo!

Safari @ Wild Coast Tented Lodge was fabulous.

Great idea! Otherwise St Lucia is so beautiful. Or even somewhere far-flung like Vietnam or Japan would be a real bucket-list trip!

Thank you.

We are fortunate that we have visited St Lucia and South Africa before!

Completely hijacking this post  I plan to do this for my honeymoon - how many days would you recommend in Sri Lanka?

I used to live in Oman and absolutely loved it, could be an amazing honeymoon too (mix of mountain, sea and desert), you can also combined this with Zanzibar / Maldives (but Musamdam Ziggy Bay is its own kind of Maldives). Also went to Sri Lanka this year which was beautiful and can recommend lots of great places - its a great time to be along the south coast too which is easier to get to than the North.

Would love to know your Sri Lanka recommendations. Plan to go there for my honeymoon, but haven’t booked anything yet so keen to get good recommendations xx

@camah17 We did 2 weeks in Sri Lanka and then 4 nights in the Maldives. There’s so many places to go in Sri Lanka but we did at least 3/4 nights each place as didn’t want to be on the move constantly. We did safari at Yala, up to Ella, down to Ahangama then across over to Weligama Bay. Would highly recommend! If we were to go again we would go to Galle as we met honeymooners there who liked it so much they ended up going back there during their trip!

Amazing, thank you so much :pray:t3::pray:t3::pray:t3:

Definitely Maldives :maldives:

If you are going to Sri Lanka definitely check the seasons and plan where you go around that (we got this a bit wrong). Sirigirya Rock was good and is often on the way to other things. In terms of the South, we stayed in Kaju Green Eco Lodge near Unawattuna which was amazing - super peaceful and romantic.

For honeymoon if you can afford it I would recommend safari in South Africa. So amazing. Though safari is expensive , you money can go quite far in Cape Town , the wine regions and the garden route.

A completely different idea would be South America- Peru and Machu Picchu.

Quite far, but French Polynesia is absolutely amazing, there’s lots of beautiful islands to explore depending on whether you just want to be on the beach or do more exploring! Bora Bora is the most famous obviously but I would recommend island hopping to see more!

Australia and New Zealand would be in full summer that time of year and could be good to combine in one trip if you can take the time to do it!
