Honeymoon in Sri Lanka

Hello all
Will be planning my honeymoon in Sri Lanka for December, any good recommendations on where to visit/stay and what to do?

Thank you :pray:t3:

We went to Sri Lanka for our honeymoon this April and it was AMAZING. Very excited for you.

We travelled around a lot which is the best way to do Sri Lanka, but the most amazing places we stayed were:

Jetwing Vil Uyana (Luxury eco hotel, in the heart of Sigiriya) - this is where we started our trip and it was magical.

Cinnamon Wild Yala (this is literally in the national park, surrounded by animals!)

Hope you have the best time and happy planning

I’ve heard great things about Ayu in the Wild: https://www.ayuinthewild.com/ for honeymoons in Sri Lanka.

Ohh you’ll have the best time Sri Lanka is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been! Here is my itinerary from a few years back:

Day 1-2: Arrival & Colombo
Arrive in Colombo, explore key sites: National Museum and Galle Face Green.

Day 3-4: Kandy
Hike Sigyria rock. Then travel to Kandy. Visit the Temple of the Tooth, the Royal Botanical Gardens & Kandy Lake. There are lots of small cafes here where you can buy tasty dosas, and a local market selling fresh fruit and coconuts.

Day 5-6: Ella
Take the scenic train to Ella. Hike Little Adam’s Peak, explore the Nine Arches Bridge, and visit the Ravana Falls.

Day 7-8: Weligama
Head to Weligama for sun, surf, and relaxation. Enjoy local seafood, and take a surfing lesson or explore nearby Mirissa (beautiful beaches here).

Day 9: Galle
Take a day trip to Galle Fort. Explore colonial streets, museums, and artisan shops.

Also, my top tips would be:

  • Get the best travel insurance you can to cover any unforeseen circumstances – especially since Sri Lanka can experience periods of political instability. That said, the people are the friendliest you’ll ever meet and will make your trip!
  • Take tropical strength insect repellent, esp when you’re in Ella which has lots of mosquitos
  • Make sure you have cash, lots of places don’t take card, and it’s good to tip drivers etc
  • Take passport with you during excursions – we went on a safari and needed to show it here for example (Yala National Park is beautifuil and home to lots of elephants!)

Amazing, thank you :pray:t3:

Sounds like a great itinerary, and fab tips!
What would you say is the best way to travel between the different cities?
Many thanks :pray:t3:

So we hired a private driver for our trip which turned out to be a great option for us. He was amazing and so affordable split between the three of us. I will DM you his WhatsApp!

Is the tour operator we used to book internal travel!

Hi, there’s a wonderful place we stayed in called Stone House in Kandy. Colonial style very romantic, so peaceful and quiet. They also have another place nearby called Elephant Stables, very similar, not as remote as Stone House but still just as beautiful. They have good websites so you can see the rooms etc. But I think the best place is called 98 acres in Ella, I would absolutely go back there. Stunning villas in the mountains with the most unbelievable views. Where ever you go, have an amazing time

We had one of the most memorable nights wine tasting at the Sun House in Galle.
