Liverpool: classy cocktail/wine bars and good coffee/cafe spots

Hi SL community, I’m going to Liverpool this weekend, sadly for a family funeral. I’ve been before but have relatives from Canada coming too, and prior to the funeral, we have time over the weekend in the city. I want to take the rare opportunity for some girl time with my sister and cousin and to plan some nice moments.
Can anyone recommend nice cocktail spots (I love a good martini!) and/wine bars? Ditto for good coffee places, and nice cafes for coffees/brunches etc. Oh, and gelato spots?

I’m so sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can enjoy part of the trip with your family.

We wrote this guide last year which has lots of recs for food & drink, as well as things to do.

Thanks @Sandrew - yes, i’ve saved your guide which is great! If any Liverpool ladies/gents have tips too, and what’s on this weekend, that would be fabulous x

Liverpool Lady here!
Salt house Bacaro for food (Italian small plates). Make sure you book!
For drinks definitely check out the municipal hotel and the 360 at inside Melia (panoramic rooftop vibes, indoor and out).
Enjoy!!!

Hi @samjred,

So sorry to hear, but always lovely to reconnect with family.

Here are some of my favourite places.

Lunch/dinner - maray, the bold street one has a lovely little cocktail bar downstairs. https://maray.co.uk/

Salt house tapas - https://salthousetapas.co.uk/

Bacaro - https://salthousebacaro.co.uk/

Drinks
Thea bar of the municipal hotel -

and berry and r.uk/ and Jencoffeehttps://www.jennysliverpool.co.uk/home although both of these are more the dark cellar type cocktail bars but the drinks and athmosphere are so good.

Wine - the cellar of the art school does good wine, fizz and nibbles The Art School Cellars - The Art School Restaurant and buyers club https://www.buyers-club.co.uk/ which is just around the corner has a good wine selection but a little more laid back.

Brunch - moose coffee (the hope street one is a bit easier to get a table at) https://www.moosecoffee.co/ bold street coffee and 92 degrees.

If you fancy something different the Anglican cathedral is stunning and you can grab some food and wine with a view in their restaurant.

Nat

I know it’s touristy, but the Philharmonic is so lovely inside and might be fun for overseas visitors to have a drink in – a classic British pub:

Hi @heathersteele so funny, my mum booked us all in there at one point over the weekend. With family we’re a group of 14, I rolled my eyes and thought ‘oh no, here’s to generic food and drinks and tourists’ but so glad to hear it’s good and gets your seal of approval! Reminder to get over myself too! xxx

Fantastic tips, thank you, lots I’d not heard of. I’d heard Art School Cellars was a nice one and a unique spot, great brunch tips, and I didn’t know you could go for food and drink at the Cathedral, will def check that out! Thank you so very much - what a great list of ideas. xxx

Thank you, brilliant tip for the rooftop bar. Perfect. xx

Haha – the modernist cathedral near the pub is well worth a look too if you’re in the area!
