Hey! Not sure what price range / feel you’re looking for but given it’s a special occasion these might be nice:
El Pimiento Verde - traditional basque cuisine
DiverXO - three Michelin-starred chef
StreetXO - same chef but their cheaper restaurant
and of course I feel everyone has to check out Mercado de San Miguel for the bustling market tapas/ casual drinks in the evening & San Gines for churros/ chocolate for breakfast

Our guide has lots of recs! When I visited last year my favourite restaurant was La Cocina de Frente – a ten-minute walk from the El Retiro park. Food was amazing (modern Spanish) and the atmosphere was relaxed but still busy
