Hello, I am travelling with a friend in May to Peru and trekking the Inca trail. Just wondered if anyone else had any tips please? (what to bring clothes wise, what not to bring etc!) We will be travelling for around 2 weeks.

My main advice would be to be cautious of altitude sickness. Cusco is very high up, so I would recommend allowing a few days to acclimatise before starting the trek!

I agree on the altitude sickness… I’d get some herbal tablets from a local pharmacy and take one as soon as you arrive in Cusco, keep taking them as prescribed even if you’re feeling okay as they really do make a difference! You can also drink coca leaf tea and have coca leaf hard boiled sweets from any convenience store in Cusco which both help too.
I absolutely loved Cusco so if you have time to go to a few restaurants there either side of your Inca trail I’d recommend Cicciolina, Chicha and Kion. Also Museo del Pisco for pisco sours - have the best time!
