Heading to New York next week - does anyone have any good restaurant recommendations?
Not a recommendation per se but I know Charlotte had major issues with getting bookings - I guess really busy now that the city is open again post-lockdown. Be warned! If you’re looking for a good breakfast, go to Jack’s Wife Freda.

Jeffrey’s Grocery - known for Bloody Marys
Marlton Hotel lobby bar - nice for a drink when it’s cold
Rosemarys
L’Artusi - tough reservation, walk-ins sit at the counter
Lilia Brooklyn - tough reservation, waitlist option
Cookshop - lunch near the High Line and Whitney
ABC Kitchen (ABC Cocina is tapas)
Going to chime in since I just moved back from living in NYC, and add some more info to the above…
Lucali’s - amazing pizza, pretty famous, Jay-Z and Bey are regulars, there’s no reservations, you need to line up from 3/3.30, until reservations start to be taken at 4 then you get a time to come back. There’s Other Half Brewing nearby if you need to kill time and want to try some local beer!
Lilia - Good Italian, hard to make a res but most nights (not weekends) you can walk up and get a table, also HIGHLY recommend a trip to their deli in the morning for a coffee and their breakfast sandwich then taking it for a stroll through McCarren Park
Paulie Gees - More pizza, a Greenpoint legend, no reservations but it’s so good! And loads of bars nearby to kill time - Achilles Heel, Ramona, Broken Land etc.
Thursday Kitchen - get there at 6pm - no reservations, so get there early to put your name down then come back - would recommend Ferns for a drink while you wait (cute decor, amazing staff, great drinks!) - they also have an insanely good happy hour
Public Rooftop - for the views!! - can make a reservation but can also walk up when it opens (I think at 5pm?) but HIGHLY recommend if you’re visiting for the weekend, the cocktails are good but the view is amazing - try to get there for sunset
BiBi’s wine bar - their happy hour is amazing - $20 for a decent bottle of red is pretty much unmatched! Plus it’s cosy vibes
Oxalis - Michelin Star - INSANE - the best service I have ever had in a restaurant and the food is incredible, they cater to any dietary requirements and you get a special somethin’ if it’s a special occasion
Post - for brunch, I think you can make a res, they do american ‘biscuits’ - try the avocado, you will not regret it!
Will add more soon…

I can not rave about this place enough! Atla on Lafyette fresh flavourful exquisite Mexican restaurant from my hero Enrique Olivera (of Netflix Chefs Table fmae) it is a treat and you must have the Overproof Margerita. Be careful and follow May West’s quote - 1 at the very most, 2 I am under the table, 3 I am under the host ;-). Also love love love Le Cou Cou at 11 Howard of Anna Delvey fame amazing food but be warmed you might need to pay for the bill as they have caught onto the European heiress blag.
