Retirement present ideas for dad

Hi everyone, hope you’re well

My dad is retiring soon and we want to get him something really special to celebrate. There is four of us in total and we want to contribute as much as we can so budget is tbc as looking for a range of ideas to help decide!

He spends a lot of time outside/on the water and lives in the countryside by the sea.

Would love any ideas! Thanks so much

Maybe a lovely coat? could get all kids initials custom made inside?

For my Grandpa’s 70th we made him a Lord by buying some land and it was hilarious! he has it framed in his house:

For smaller presents you could get him the newspaper from when he was born:

A lovely coffee table book on one of his hobbies or a luxury backgammon set?

Hi!

If your Dad is really into a sport like sailing, then he will have quite technical requirements for his clothing etc. in terms of fit, weight, performance, closures, pockets etc.

He will now what he is looking for and, if you are spending a lot of money, it is better to get something he really wants and needs.

So you could either ask him, take him on a shopping spree, or give him vouchers:

Marine Superstore

Sailing Chandlery

Outdoor and Country

Mountain Warehouse

Schoeffel

There are plenty more!

How about a course of some sort? Or an experience for him to enjoy?

Thank you so much! These are great ideas

Thank you so much that is really helpful! And yes completely true - he does have a lottt of kit and as you say it’s all quite technical. Trying to think of something out of the box that he might not expect which is proving more tricky!

Thank you for the list - really helpful reference point!

Lovely ideas thanks so much

Thank you Emma and great ideas! He does have coffee table books and already a backgammon set

Definitely will think along these lines though as don’t think you can have too many. Finding it so tricky to think of something he won’t expect! Thanks for your help
