Desperate for recommendations for sheer tights please, 10-20 denier, that won’t end up with a hole in them as soon as I put them on (or half way through the evening). I love the look they create but the ones I’ve looked at in shops just do not look like they’d last the night!

Sheertex are great, but also more local to U.K is Hēdoïne that are pretty durable, and ladder resistant. https://hedoine.com/
Any tight will snag and get a hole, but the run-resistant technology is in the weave that prevents laddering by a longitudinal unraveling (deconstructing).
