Singapore/Bali recommendations

I’ve just booked flights to Singapore at the end of September with the plan being to spend 4/5 days there and then fly to Bali for a week. We haven’t booked any accommodation yet so looking for any recommendations for lovely hotels/villas, plus any ideas of must sees/dos/restaurants etc would be amazing!

What a fun trip! My favourite place in Bali was Ubud, some of my recs would be:

Mozaic Restaurant Gastronomique for a really special meal
Rüsters Restaurant for sunset dining (very romantic)
Melali Ubud for everyday dining
Kafe for buddha bowls and curries

I recently interviewed chef Rahel Stephanie who’s Indonesian and she had lots of cool Bali recs in there!

I went to Bali for a month a few years ago, here were a few of our favourite places:

Seminyak
Beach Clubs - Mrs Sippy Beach Club, Potato Head Beach Club - this was amazing and definitely worth paying a little more to get a day bed.
Shelter Bali - great breakfast.
Kynd Community - great breakfast.

Canguu:
Mexicola - great in the evenings but reserve a table online else you won’t be able to get in.
Old Mann’s - great spot on the beach front.
The Practise - yoga barn, 100k for an hour and half lesson, good fun!
Mad Pops - amazing ice cream place.
Cafe Organic - great for breakfast.
Crate Cafe - popular breakfast place.

Uhbud:
Mount Batur Trek

Ulluwatu:
You must rent Mopeds to get around.
Ulu Cluffhouse - amazing place to watch the sunset, this was by far the most incredible sunset spot!
Thomas Beach - more private than the main Padang Padang beach.
Suka Espresso - best peanut butter chocolate smoothie bowl.
Single Fin - get there early if you want to use sun lounger and they do great food.

I stayed in Singapore a few years ago at the Fullerton on the Bay and at Marina Bay Sands. The latter was definitely full of bloggers and Instagrammers due to its crazy pool that floats on top of the building!

This hotel is opposite and I’d suggest is more refined and relaxing. It has a roof top pool and you can see all the craziness at Marina Bay opposite, without living in it.

This is SO good thank you so much

These are both fab - thanks G!

If you are staying around Jimbaran in Bali, I can highly recommend Cuca Restaurant. The menu is excellent tapas styled food with a twist. If you can get a seat at the Food Bar, you are able to watch the dishes being created in front of you. https://www.cucabali.com/

Check out The Lost Guides Bali books = she’s done two, and they’ve got all the best tips (plus they are really beautiful).

Visited both Singapore and Bali last year so sharing a few recommendations.

Singapore:
Go for drinks at the top of Marina Bay sands at sunset
Drinks at Raffles - iconic
Famous Singapore salt and pepper crab at one of the restaurants along the water. Very popular so you’d need to book in advance
As you’re there for 4/5 days, I’d recommend catching the ferry to Pulau Ubin island and renting bikes to cycle round. Amazing views and wildlife on the route

Bali:
Ubud
*Dinner at Hujan Locale is a must; amazing Indonesian food but elevated
*Hire a driver for the day and visit the surrounding waterfalls, rice paddies
*Cretya Ubud for drinks with a view
*Mount Batur sunrise hike (only do it if there is no chance of rain)
*If you want to stay in outskirts of Ubud which are more jungly then recommend somewhere that has a free shuttle into the centre

Uluwatu
*Stay near Padang Padang beach as nice mix of restaurants, cafes round there easily in walking distance
*Surf lessons for beginners are good in this area
*El Kabron beach club for sunset
*Best beaches are also in this area of the island - Melasti and Pandawa
*Uluwatu temple at sunset

Canggu
*Amazing food everywhere! Very hard to go wrong
*Lawn Canggu for sunset drinks

*Bali also now has ride hailing aps like Uber so it is very easy to get around with these
*Also amazing massage places all over and so cheap compared to the UK - definitely maximise this

Have a great time!

Sounds gorg, will have a look! Thank you

This is incredible thanks so much!!

I grew up in Singapore so have lots of reccos!!

If you’re visiting for the first time - Marina Bay Sands is such a treat.
Elsewhere there’s also The W Sentosa - if you want to be near the beach!

Food wise - you MUST go to Dempsey - and especially visit P.S Cafe. It’s my fave. There’s a few locations but Dempsey is my favourite!

Marina Bay Sands has some lovely restaurants too both in the hotel and the mall.
I love Punjab Grill | Indian Restaurant in Singapore | Marina Bay Sands for indian food

We have it here but DO go to Din Tai Fung in SG.

For Mexican I love LUCHA LOCO
The Fat Prince is also SO good wraps/hummus/kebabs https://www.fatprincesg.com/menus

Make sure you go to sentosa - there’s lots of bars and beach bars.
I especially love spending a day at https://www.tanjongbeachclub.com/

Orchard Road is the place to go for shoppping - theres so many Malls. My fave is ION Mall - there’s lots of designer but also high street and there’s a sephora too.

For drinks:
Lantern Bar @ the fullerton is lovely for a view Lantern | Hotel Bars in Singapore | Restaurants & Bars

Will send more if I think of any more! x
