Skin treatment/injectables advice please

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice on how to improve my skin during my 30s. I haven’t focused on anti aging at all so far because I was trying to keep my acne under control during my 20s. I’ve always been scared that trying new skincare ingredients would break me out again but I think I have my acne routine down now and so could afford to be a bit more adventurous. I am essentially looking to invest in a routine that will maintain tone and elasticity in my face as much as possible. I already have some wrinkles around my eyes and in my smile lines that I don’t love and I feel like my lips are often dry and small. I am open to more powerful skincare or even beauty treatments or injectables. I just don’t really know where to start or what clinics are reliable (London area). I would be really grateful for any advice or thoughts. Thank you!!

I would deff look into a retinal, recommend Medik8 crystal retinal it’s great! Perhaps start some botox if that is something you’d be interested in? you can always have a consultation and see what they have to say x

Agree, retinal is a good place to start, especially if you’re acne-prone. (It has antibacterial properties) There are some really good entry-level formulas now so you shouldn’t have to worry about purging. I personally quite like this MEGA-A Skin Transforming Serum – Kate Somerville UK by Kate Somerville x

Hi, I would highly recommend

Non-invasive approach to ageing, she combines advanced electrical treatments with holistic elements. They are the most amazing facials and she comes to your home, it’s such a luxury. Covers most areas in south west London. Hope that helps

Hi there, I have hit the menopause (booo!) and found that Neostrata do the job! Their Ultra hydration has an SPF50 and I also love their face washes. They do a gentle salycylic acid treatment that I have for breakouts…

Thank you all much appreciated!!

I learned a lot on skin health from following a few insta accounts Nadine bagott, Caroline hirons and wassim tatouk. the last one has a clinic in London which has a good reputation but I never tried. I really like the Medik8 products and its website.

The fundamental skincare regime for all skin types at all ages should include a Vitamin C serum and SPF 50 every morning

These ingredients slow down the skin ageing process caused by exposure to LIGHT degrading collagen, causing cellular changes, uneven pigmentation (age spots)

You can’t make collagen without Vitamin C - look for the L-ascorbic acid form which has clinical proof

Skinceuticals are fabulous - I love their CE Ferulic, if your skin is still prone to oiliness or congestion try their Silymarin version which is Vit C with a little salicylic acid - if you’re combination skin with blemish marks try their Phloretin version

Retinol or retinal (which is more potent than retinol and antibacterial) should be phased-in gradually - Use three nights a week unless you have deep scarring or pigmentation
Wait 30 mins then apply a moisturiser
Look for moisturisers & lip products with ceramides - which help to reduce moisture loss
Rather than going straight to Botox consider wrinkle relaxing peptides - Skinceuticals P-Tiox is great, Medik8 Liquid Peptides is a good price though

Spend time massaging your face upwards and outwards - do this when cleansing to gently exfoliate skin, features are lifted too.
Always use a face cloth and warm water to remove cleanser
Don’t use wipes, micellar or cotton wool pads - that’s not cleansing the skin

I’m a Facialist with 30 years experience however I’m in north Manchester rather than London

I recently had a facial at Sarah Chapman and thought it was honestly amazing! I also really rate FaceGym. I think if you are looking to invest in your skin/treatments it might be worth doing one of these every other month if you can afford it. I would look into this before starting injectables personally- I am kind of in the same head space but trying to get a better skincare routine before I experiment!

Hi , might be worth looking at The Tweakments Guide by Alice Hart Davies. Loads of advice etc

Good luck

Have you ever had your hormone levels checked re your acne? Progesterone in particular. Just a thought. Being of menopause age this is something the crops up in my research & podcasts.
I also use medik8 which has been mentioned several times. You can often get 20% discount through cult beauty or space nk.

Thanks all for sharing your experiences, much appreciated

I have a subscription with Klira and it is amazing. My skin has never looked so good. Check out their website
