Solo eating

Hi,

Im in London for a week on my own in December, looking for things to do alone particularly where I can get a lovely meal and not feel I stand out being a lone diner.

Thank you

Oh I love a solo trip - I’d recommend booking places where you can eat at the bar - it’s my favorite way when eating alone and you get to talk to the bar staff or even chefs.

In Notting Hill Strakers is great for this, you’ll sit right by the kitchen bar and the chefs will explain every dish to you and you never really feel alone (the space is always packed and restaurant quite small so it feels super cosy)

For Soho area I love Kricket for the bar space, and Bao is another great shout for easy solo dining with counter seating (and the food is YUM)

For Borough Market you could do Padella or if you fancy something special OMA which is the most amazing Greek inspired food

Just always make sure to request counter/bar seating!

Oh that sounds really lovely! I think anywhere with a counter is great for solo dining, such as Bocca Di Lupo, Barrafina etc. A nice market like Exmouth or Brick Lane on a Sunday would also be fun!

BRAT in shoreditch (sit at the counter), I also second Strakers. Others would be noble rot (best for lunch as theyve got an amazing lunch pre fix). Eat tokyo and dim sum duck are very casual, no frills which are great for a quick, inexpensive solo meal.

Bancone, particularly the one in Covent Garden, is great for solo dining. They have a bar you can sit at. x

Agree, somewhere with a hustle/bustle is good, try these:

  • Moto ramen (Charlotte Street - quite a few good places down here)
  • Kiln, Soho
  • Noci Pasta is also good (Old Street / Angel) -
  • Exmouth Market - lots of cute places down here that are chilled and welcoming (e.g. Morcella)

I would defo recommend a tour of the food markets - of course Borough market is my favourite, everyone sits on the walls/steps around it - solo trips are great!

Hello, I was in London last month and absolutely loved the dining experience and the food at Berenjak located at the Borough Market.

Booking one of the counter seats would be prudent: https://berenjaklondon.com/

Hi Rebecca

Looks like places to eat are sorted!

In terms of things to do, there are some great exhibitions:

Van Gogh

Naomi Campbell’s Modelling Career

Marilyn Monroe

Barbie

In addition to the main museums and galleries, The Courtauld Gallery in Somerset House has loads of famous masterpieces.

If you like immersive, virtual reality, the Gunpowder Plot is fun.

For a silly theatre experience in a really quirky setting, ten minutes’ walk from the Tower of London I recommend a visit to Wilton’s Music Hall. There are some afternoon performances. It is worth going, juts for the uniqueness and friendliness of the place.

If you are going to Covent Garden, then Long Acre is great for shopping.

Have a great stay!
