Hello - we have decided to go to Tanzania for our honeymoon in July (Safari then Zanzibar to chill) and we’re looking for any recommendations: who to book with, where to go/stay on safarai (how many days), and hotel and activity recommendations for Zanzibar.
Ah this is the exact honeymoon I did two years ago. We booked a multi-day safari with Trialfinders who were really good, but I think the itinerary tried to do a little too much - we went between the Serengeti (the best), Ngorgogo crater (quite good but think we were unlucky) and another national park at the end (can’t remember the name, but we saw nothing but monkeys). It was sometimes 3-5 hours in the car between each one, and then the game drives themselves are a couple of hours so its a lot of time in the car and quite full on.
So if I did it again I’d focus just on the Serengeti probably, or only that and the crater and try and stay a bit more in one place.
We also chose to do a private tour so it was just us and the driver - it meant you could do your own thing and go look at certain animals etc rather than be with a group of people.
Would definitely recommend just an afternoon and night in Stone Town in Zanizabar as well.
One of my close friends specialises in Safari holidays, she works for https://www.turquoiseholidays.co.uk/ so would definitely check out their recommendations, as everywhere she has been looks incredible x
I did a solo trip to Tanzania & Zanzibar in October. It was a dream! I used a local Tanzanian company (Serengeti Smile) and I have to say they organised every single aspect of my trip. I could save or splurge where I wanted as it was all very individual.
I can highly recommend Four Seasons Serengeti for honeymoon level luxury & experience.
Also recommend the Hot Air Balloon ride over the Serengeti via Serengeti Balloons. It’s magical, followed by a 5-star breakfast and champagne in the Serengeti.
Visit a local Massai Mara tribe village - fascinating.
The Tanzanian people are so special and kind, you’ll not want to leave.
Equally, Zanzibar is stunning. I stayed in Paige because I found a newly opened Wellness Hotel called Samawa Living. Beautiful fresh food, yoga & meditation, small gym and a free golf buggy chauffeur to the beach. The Zanzibar people are also super friendly too!
As for the Safari itself. Do as many days as your itinerary allows. It’s unforgettable and you get quite close to the animals. I saw more cats than ever before and even spotted a Black Rhino at Ngorogoro Crater.
You’ll absolutely LOVE this trip! Good Luck whatever you decide
