Hi All,
I volunteer with local children and am currently supporting a 16-year-old young lady. She’s studying Hair and Beauty at college and is very interested in makeup, of course. I have a basic understanding but would love to book her in for a beauty and makeup consultation.
We’re looking for guidance on basic skincare for her age and affordable makeup with proper color matching. While I know we could visit a makeup counter at places like John Lewis, I’d prefer an independent consultant who isn’t tied to a single brand.
I have a budget of around £300 and live in Northampton, though we’re happy to travel to a suitable location.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I would reach out to makeup artist as they likely do some sort of training and can give makeup advice to young girls x
I second what Elyana said! I had a friend who wanted to work in this field reach out to a makeup artist she followed on IG, who then offered her a private lesson. She learnt how to professionally apply product and different techniques for different looks. Lucky me, she taught me a lot for my own day-to-day makeup x
There’s a really cool concept here in London called Beam where you can easily book sessions & consultations with makeup artists to learn about different techniques, products etc. It’s just under £100 for an hour’s session & it’s all about education & having fun with makeup so could work if you’re planning a trip to London anytime soon x
