Washington DC recommendations

Hi

I am heading to Washington DC in December (with a 1-year old :see_no_evil:) and looking for some suggestions. What area to stay and is it an Airbnb or hotel kind of place?

Also some recommendations of what to do, see and eat! Maybe some indoor recommendations as well as seen lots of outdoor things but could be quite cold with a little one then.

Thank you! :pray:t2:

Lyle Washington DC is a smart and affordable hotel that’s very family friendly

2 Amy’s Pizza Macomb St (amazing local eats place) near Washington Cathedral (it’s no Westminster Abbey but it’s beautiful). United States Botanic Gardens near the State Capitol. Arlington National Cemetery, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Mt. Vernon in Virginia.

I would recommend staying in the Capitol Hill or Dupont Circle areas adn for specific places I would say that The Smithsonian museums are perfect for indoor activities, especially the National Air and Space Museum and the Natural History Museum, which are great for kids.

And without a doubt you got to try the food, Founding Farmers is a popular spot with a great vibe, and Old Ebbitt Grill is another classic choice.

I would say that this is the “must” that you have to do

Duke’s Grocery on 17th Street do one of the best burgers I’ve ever had

Ah thank you all, I will be sure to check these out!

DC Children’s Museum - Exhibits at National Children's Museum
National Portrait Gallery - they have an enclosed space in the middle of the museum that’s beautiful, and if you’re 1yr old is walking, plenty of practice space :). They’ll do concerts etc. in that space as well regularly.

Walk around Georgetown. Two coffee recommendations around there are Boulangerie Christophe or Compass Coffee. Both are on Wisconsin Ave.

If you’re near the National Museum of the American Indian, pop in for lunch! They have some really interesting (also delicious, also healthy) food options based on the foods of different regions/tribes.

Amazing suggestions, thank you all so much!

Capitol Hill or Georgetown are solid places to stay. The Smithsonian museums are great indoors, plus they’re free! Founding Farmers is a fun spot to eat.
