I’m going to Belgium for a weekend in October and looking for recommendations for Brussels/Bruges/Ghent e.g. where to eat/drink/shop/go. Any tips for accommodation would also be amazing!
Hi Annabel, I did a bit of a road trip last year between Lille, Bruges and Ghent.
I’ve wrote up my Bruges recommendations, hopefully you will find this useful: https://www.thehungrysoles.com/blog/bruges-in-a-day
My recommendations for Ghent would be:
Brunch:
Oyo
Gust
Coffee:
Geniet Van het moment
Cafe bison (great for people watching)
Wine bar:
Ona
Dinner:
Meme Gusta (reservation recommended)
Fries:
De Frietketel
Walk around:
Krook (library)
Geavensteen
Graslei
Very easy to walk around these cities. Hope this helps and have a great trip!
Thank you so much Alice!
I’m not sure if you’re open to visiting other areas in Belgium but Antwerp is 100% worth going to if you have time! I may be biased as my family are from there but the shopping and restaurants in Antwerp are so underrated – the fashion and culture has a very similar feel to Copenhagen.
Just to name a few places…
Cool Brands & Stores:
Sea Me Happy
Princess
Lewis & Melly
The Room
Baby Beluga
Sissy-Boy
Cafes & Restaurants:
Tinsel
Cafe Canele
Polly
Bakkerij Funk
Jimmyz
Aldo
Blue
Frites Atelier
Hereunder my recommendations as a Gent local:
Gent:
Croissants at The bakery
Sandwiches/broodjes at Verloren kost
Lunch at Kruidtuin
Dinner at Elders
Brussels:
Oysters at Noordzee
Pizza at Nona
Dinner at Oldboy
Brugge:
Do a boat trip
Groeninge museum
All food serving places are tourist traps
Enjoy and thank me later
Thank you so much! I only really have time to go to three places and have to stay in Brussels for one of them, which 2 should I do out of Brugge, Antwerp and Ghent?
I would stay at the PAND hotel to stay in as they have the most amazing breakfast. They will litteraly treat you like royalty! It is very central and has a lovely atmosphere for a boutique hotel experience.
